A private video journal built for Android.

Record up to 30 seconds a day, give every goal its own journey, and watch Day 1 next to today.

Jourvelope runs on Android 8.0 and newer. There's no account to create, and your recordings stay in the app's own storage on your phone.

On your phone

A camera, a timeline, and nothing to manage.

Open the app, pick the goal you're working on, record. There's no editor, no feed and no sign-up step between you and the recording.

  • Opens straight to record

A short countdown, up to 30 seconds, then it's saved.

  • One journey per goal

Training, guitar and a side project each keep their own timeline.

  • Day 1 beside today

The comparison that makes slow change visible.

For the full feature walkthrough, see the video journal app, or how journeys work around a goal.

Permissions

What Jourvelope asks for, and why.

Android asks for the first two when they first matter, not all at once on launch. The rest never show a prompt.

  • Camera and microphone — the entries are short videos with sound. Recording only happens on the recording screen, never in the background.
  • Notifications — only if you turn on a reminder, and only used for the reminders you set.
  • Run at startup— so a reminder you've set still arrives after you restart your phone. Reminders are scheduled on the device.
  • Google Play billing — for the optional Pro purchase.
  • Internet and network state — used by the purchase and analytics libraries. Recording and everything you look back on work without a connection.

What Jourvelope doesn't request is the more useful list: no contacts, no location, and no permission to read your photo gallery. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

Storage and export

Where the files actually live.

Recordings are written to Jourvelope's own app-specific storage, in a Jourvelope folder. They don't appear in your gallery and they don't sync to Google Photos, so photo-backup apps won't pick them up.

Two things worth being straight about: it's an ordinary app folder rather than a vault, so you can open it yourself with a file manager. And because Jourvelope uploads nothing, there's no copy of it waiting on our side either.

  • Uninstalling the app removes its storage, and the recordings go with it.
  • If your device backup is on, Android may include Jourvelope's app data in your Google backup, under Google's own rules and size limits. That backup is between you and Google.
  • Export (Pro) builds a ZIP of a journey's videos and history on the device and hands it to the Android share sheet — so you choose where it goes: Drive, Files, a cable, anywhere.
  • A recording leaves the app only when you share, save or export it yourself.

Reminders

A nudge at a time you choose.

Most skipped entries come down to forgetting rather than unwillingness. A reminder at a fixed point in your day does most of the work.

  • Free includes a daily reminder at a time you pick.
  • Pro gives each journey its own reminder time, so a morning goal and an evening one can differ.
  • Reminder times and on/off settings are stored on your device.

If keeping it going is the hard part, read how to stay consistent with a video journal.

FAQ

Android questions.

Which Android versions does Jourvelope support?

Android 8.0 (Oreo) and newer. Google Play checks this for you before installing, so if the install button works, your phone is supported.

Which permissions does Jourvelope ask for?

The ones Android prompts you for are camera and microphone, because the entries are videos with sound, and notifications only if you turn on a reminder. It also declares two that never show a prompt: 'run at startup', so a reminder still fires after you restart your phone, and Google Play billing. Jourvelope doesn't request contacts, location, or permission to read your photo gallery.

Where are the videos saved on my Android phone?

In Jourvelope's own app-specific storage, in a Jourvelope folder, not in your gallery or camera roll — so gallery and photo-backup apps don't show them. Jourvelope doesn't upload them. It isn't a vault, though: it's a normal app folder, so you can reach it yourself with a file manager.

What happens to my videos if I uninstall the app?

Android removes the app's storage when you uninstall, so the recordings go with it, and Jourvelope has no cloud copy to restore. If your device backup is switched on, Android may include app data in your Google backup under its own rules. To keep a copy you control, export the journey first — that's a Pro feature.

Does it work offline?

Recording, your timeline, your journeys and the Day 1 comparison all run on the device, so they work without a connection. A connection is needed for a purchase or to restore one, and the app sends pseudonymous usage events when it has one.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. Jourvelope is Android-only for now, on Google Play.

How do I pay, and how do I cancel?

Pro is an in-app purchase through Google Play, monthly or one-time lifetime, priced for your region. A monthly plan is cancelled in your Google Play subscriptions, the same as any other Play subscription.
